Driven by a desire to write

PHOENIX CHAN is a published writer who dreams of a career in the print industry. She has been contributing articles to local periodicals, composing essays for local magazines and writing poetry since 2001.

Ms Chan is seeking a full-time position as a writer or editor.

Besides her passion for writing, she also loves reading and listening to the radio. She said she enjoyed such forums because they gave people an opportunity to express their ideas.

Ms Chan also spends a lot of time watching films. She is always absorbing new information and sharing ideas with others, and that is why she believes she would make an excellent writer or editor.

Ms Chan said she had been an 'ideas generator' for years. She is very creative and talkative, and likes to work with other people with vibrant, creative minds.

'I am very outgoing and like to express ideas. I'm an eager, quick learner and bring a cheerful atmosphere to the office,' she said.

Since August 2002, Ms Chan has been working as a postgraduate teaching assistant for the department of Chinese language and literature at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is completing a master's in philosophy and has a Master of Arts in Modern Languages and Intercultural Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature.

She has also worked as a hostel tutor for the university's Shaw College and as a research assistant for its Institute of Chinese.
