WHY WOULD I study overseas after Form Five? It is a good option if you want to go to university one day but do not get an A-level place locally - and your parents can afford it.
How much does it cost? A minimum of about $120,000 a year, but a top boarding school in Britain might cost as much as $280,000.
I do not like school. Are there other options? There are also foundation courses, which offer a faster path to university and a curriculum more suited to your interests than school.
Is it a waste of money? After all, I was not clever enough to get an A-level place here. No! Many students in that position do go on to succeed in school and university if they work hard.
Does that mean the standard is lower overseas? No. The standard is similar, but the teaching style is different. You will be encouraged to challenge and debate issues with teachers, and participate in activities outside school, such as sport.
