Fish balls - no, not the type that make piranhas so vicious, but the hot snacks that so many LoDown readers love - are now available in three vending machines at Fotan, Kowloon Tong and Mongkok KCR stations.
The machines, which accept cash and Octopus cards, offer a cup of five fish balls for $5, with a choice of original and spicy flavours. It is understood that beef balls will also be available in a few weeks.
But the company operating them has hired staff and stationed them next to the machines to instruct customers on how to operate them. And if you want your fish-ball fix early in the morning or late at night, the machines won't be much help, as they only operate from 8am to 10pm.
But LoDown wonders why we have the dispensing machines in the first place, if staff are needed to man them.
