In a world where internet domain names that accurately describe the content of a site can reap obscene amounts of money, CD.com is underdeveloped.
The site, owned by United States-based domain name buyer and seller NamePros.com, has not had content for the past 12 years.
Its search placement potential has not been realised even as more than 178 million references result from the term CD on Google and an estimated 24 million searches begin with CD.
But that is about to change amid a revival in the internet domain name business.
RBM Interactive, which has exclusive rights to broker the domain name, said: 'CD.com scores high on intuitive, mnemonic recognition.' The San Francisco-based firm said a recent online survey showed the domain name's ability to generate online traffic was fresh and intact, despite more than a decade of quiet existence in cyberspace.
'With absolutely no marketing, nearly 75,000 people still type CD.com directly into their browsers each month - showing the clear value of an intuitive domain name,' it said.
