Candidates' 6 years of close rivalry enters third round
Raymond Ho Chung-tai and John Luk Wang-kwong will stage the third round of their six-year struggle for the engineering functional constituency seat.
They will scramble for ballots from the constituency's 7,252 voters, almost a thousand more than four years ago, when Dr Ho won by 770 votes.
The chief concerns of the engineering sector remain the availability of jobs in a recovering economy and the tottering construction sector.
Dr Ho, an independent candidate who has held the seat for six years, says he has successfully fought for more government spending on works.
But Dr Luk, a project consultant with Sun Hung Kai Properties, said Dr Ho's efforts had been ineffective and called for the industry to look across the border for more jobs.
Launching his election campaign with the slogan of 'Green Luk, Clean Luk' last month, Dr Luk said he aimed to bring hope to voters.
