Schoolgirl swimmer Hannah Wilson's big moment has finally arrived. Today, the 15-year-old will hear the buzzer to signal the start of her race at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Hannah, a student at Island School, will represent Hong Kong in the women's 100-metre freestyle at 3pm (Hong Kong time).
Along with seven other Hong Kong athletes, the 15-year-old has been through a long battle to be cleared to take part in the Games.
The International Olympic Committee gave her the green light to represent Hong Kong in May, despite the fact that she does not hold an SAR passport.
Hannah is Hong Kong's top female swimmer in the sprint events. She holds the Hong Kong record for the 100m freestyle, 57.60 seconds, which was established at the national trials earlier this year.
Last year, she stormed into the picture when she set a Hong Kong record (57.69 seconds), which was inside the Olympic 'B' qualifying standard of 58.23 seconds.
