A FOUR-NIGHT extravaganza featuring the China Peking Opera Theatre will be staged in the Cultural Centre's grand theatre from October 7 to 10.
Founded in 1955 by maestro Mei Lanfang and restructured in 1997, the troupe, designated a 'national level' performing company, has toured Europe, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong, as well as the mainland.
In the upcoming Hong Kong performance, the group will open with The Bamboo Grove Trap and Pillars of the Dynasty, Visiting the Mausoleum and The Two Faithful Courtiers.
The following night's programme includes the excerpts Inscribing on the Fan from The Case of Mistaken Identities at the Flower Show; The Fisherman and The Levy from The Fisherman's Revenge; and Stealing the Imperial Horse and The Stepmother Giving Up Her Own Son.
Visiting the Prison, from The Injustice Done to Dou E, and The Gold Bullion will be staged on October 9, followed by The Wild Boar Forest on the final night.
Headlining the acts are 'National Class One' performers Yu Kuizhi, Li Shengsu and guest actors Yang Chi and Yang Yanyi.
