Police probe influx of worms in public pools
Bloodworms were found in three more public swimming pools last night - including the first discovery in a Hong Kong Island pool.
The sightings came after police yesterday took over the investigation into the mystery outbreaks.
The East Kowloon Regional Crime Unit is investigating whether the incidents are a result of a prank, or other human activity.
They were first discovered in a Kowloon Park pool on August 4. In the past week, there have been sightings in pools at Kowloon Park, Kwun Tong and Tai Wan Shan.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department called in the police yesterday after finding four bloodworms in a pool in Kwun Tong at about 6am, before it was opened to the public.
A children's pool at the complex was closed on Tuesday after lifeguards found two bloodworms there, said Paul Cheung Kwok- kee, assistant director of leisure services.
