Updated at 1.43pm: Customs officers have arrested five men in connection with the commercial use of pirated music videos, a spokesman said on Friday. The arrests followed raids on Thursday by customs officers on karaoke lounges and pubs. These premises were suspected to have used copyright infringing karaoke music videos when doing business, the spokesman explained. 'Those arrested are aged 28 to 47,' he added. He said investigations were carried out after customs had received complaints from copyright owners of music videos. Customs officers on Thursday raided three pubs in Wan Chai and Tsim Sha Tsui, and two karaoke lounges in Tuen Mun. As a result, the officers seized 99 infringing VCDs and 24 computers containing infringing karaoke music videos. Two computer servers and some audio-visual equipment were also uncovered. They were worth a total of about $400,000, the spokesman said.
