Nail polish remover is indispensable for a perfect manicure. You might think all brands are the same, but in fact they vary hugely in quality and price. Some contain too much alcohol, which can make your nails dull and rough looking. Others smell so strong they make your eyes water. So choose with care. Apply with soft cotton wool rather than tissue paper, which can stick to the nails. Mannings Nourishing Nail Polish Remover ($18/150ml) This is surprisingly good. It doesn't dry the skin around the nails and it smells pleasant. What's more, it's cheap. We highly recommend this one. Cutex Nail Polish Remover With Vitamin E ($15.5/100ml) Doesn't smell too bad, and is very effective at removing old polish. However, the alcohol in it makes your nails very dull and dries the cuticles. Etude Nail Cleanser - Aroma and Colour Refreshing ($48/100ml) This one by a South Korean skincare brand blends natural lemon and lavender oil with nail polish remover. It requires a bit of effort to get rid of all traces of nail polish and tends to dry your skin, but it has a lovely lemon fragrance. Shu Uemura Nail Polish Remover ($80/60ml) Packaged in a glass bottle in a white bag, this oil-based remover takes off nail colours effectively with only a few wipes. It doesn't dry up the nails, and it doesn't stink. A bit expensive though.
