OUT OF THE CAN

Canned Revolution is a collage of images created by artist and fashion photographer Andre Eichman.

He uses the exhibition to protest against  materialism and the environmental destruction caused by machines.

Eichman once said: 'There is a constant need for image; more and more, what's on the inside doesn't count as much as the packaging.'

The artworks, which combine everyday objects with images of machines, can be viewed from tomorrow until the end of this month at 5 o.p.t. studio/gallery.

PIANO RECITAL

More than 40 students trained by veteran pianist Rebecca Wai-yan are set to showcase their talents at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA).

They will offer a wide variety of styles, including pop, classical and hymn music.

The concert will take place on Sunday at 3.30pm at the HKAPA's Recital Hall. Tickets at $100 can be obtained from HK Ticketing on 3128 8288.

CLASSIC FILM

The 400 Blows,  directed by master filmmaker  Francois Truffaut in 1959, is a 'must see' for  film buffs.

The movie will be shown on Sunday at 2.15pm at the Hong Kong Arts Centre's Agnes b. Cinema.

The film marks the emergence of Truffaut - a leading critic of the French New Wave - as  one of the world's top film directors.

Starring Jean-Pierre Leaud, Claire Maurier and Albert Remy, The 400 Blows is about the director's own difficult childhood, complicated by his detached parents, oppressive teachers and a friendship that would last a lifetime.

Tickets cost $50 each and are available from HK Ticketing.
