Court shown police video of man admitting killing cousin
A videotape was played to a court yesterday of a 21-year-old man allegedly admitting killing his cousin, 10, after flying into a rage because the boy eavesdropped on his telephone conversation with a schoolgirl.
Hung Ka-chun told police in a videotaped interview, played in the Court of First Instance, he grew angry and slashed Yeung Yu-hang's neck with a box-cutter. He then pushed him off the bed onto the floor, with the boy hitting the back of his head. Hung has denied a charge of murder.
Hung said in the tape that he confronted Yu-hang on the evening of May 1, 2002, and asked if he had listened in on his conversation with a girl he met online.
'He said he did it out of carelessness then he was looking at me and laughed,' the defendant told police.
Hung, a convenience store worker, said he was 'very angry' and took out a box-cutter from his trouser pocket and slashed Yu-hang's neck once.
The court heard Yu-hang recoiled and tried to struggle, and the defendant then pushed him off the bed onto the floor, with the boy hitting his head.
According to Hung, the boy said he would tell his mother and Hung became 'very nervous' that he would be scolded.
