Max Concepts (Thai Basil in Pacific Place, Eating Plus in the IFC, Cafe Landmark, and Mezz in the Prince's Building) is opening its first restaurant in Kowloon. Rice Paper, which serves Vietnamese food 'with a modern twist', is scheduled to open later this month at shop 3319, Level 3, Gateway Arcade, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 3151 7801. The menu will be extensive, with dishes such as red-cooked chicken and lobster with cress, bamboo shoots, orange, pickled carrot and mint ($80), rice-paper rolls with chorizo, lettuce leaf, pineapple and cashew nut dipping sauce (above left; $60), spring rolls with coconut chicken, lettuce leaves, herbs, coconut, vinegar and lime ($60) and grilled pork chops with garlic, coriander, sweet soy and chilli vinegar ($55). Desserts have a French influence, such as sticky banana pudding with honeycomb ice cream ($50) and durian pancakes with passion-fruit ice cream and star fruit ($50), which complement the refreshing lime, ginger and honey tea (above right; $33).
