Simply divine

Carmen Ting
American art historian Michael Aram, who has worked in India for 15 years, applies his knowledge of fine art and skills as a painter and sculptor to create whimsical tableware that wouldn't look out of place in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Available at Sanskrit (48 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central, tel: 2545 2088; www.sanskrit.com.hk), which sells clothes and homeware by more than 20 leading Indian designers, Aram's work is inspired by religious tradition, mythology and nature, as is evident in his aluminiusm leaf trays (above; $425 to $980) and sweet dishes (below; $780).
