Ivan Allan receives his Lifetime Achievement Award from Financial Secretary Henry Tang Ying-yen and Jockey Club chairman Ronald Arculli. The Jockey Club marked Allan's retirement with the award in recognition of his enormous contribution to the sport. Singaporean Allan, 62, was seven times champion trainer on the Malayan Racing Association circuit but first came to prominence in Hong Kong with his raid on the Hong Kong Cup with Colonial Chief. He was invited to shift from Singapore's Bukit Timah track to Sha Tin in 1992 and completed 12 seasons here, winning the trainer's championship three times and wresting every feature race, most of them in multiples.
