Zhang Ning was a rare exception to the policy of keeping older stars at home and sending young players to Athens to gain experience for 2008. 'If my country needs me, I will stay on the national team. Being more mature means playing better and I've never looked at my age as a big factor,' said the 29-year-old, a native of Shenyang in the northeastern industrial rustbelt.
