All platform screen doors have been declared safe, the MTR Corporation said after one at Jordan station cracked this week.

The safety screen door, made of reinforced glass, broke on Tuesday, minutes before a Tsuen Wan-bound train arrived at Jordan. The glass did not shatter and no injuries were reported.

'We already replaced the broken glass. All the screen doors were also inspected, and they are fine,' an MTRC spokeswoman said.

'The reinforced glass is made in Germany and meets international standards.'

The MTRC has not found the cause, but is investigating.

Chan Siu-lai, a civil engineering professor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, said reinforced, or tempered glass, would break 'spontaneously' if there were impurities such as nickel sulfide in it.
