Everton set to offer Djorkaeff return to the Premier League
Everton have been linked with a move for the former Bolton Wanderers player Youri Djorkaeff. The club said their manager David Moyes has been made aware that the former international forward wants to continue his career in the Premiership. The 36-year-old is available on a free transfer after his contract at Wanderers ended last season.
'There has been plenty of interest in Youri from a few different clubs and anything is possible,'said Djorkaeff's agent Willie McKay. 'Youri is such a fantastic professional he could do a job in any Premiership side. He has a number of options which we will look at over the next couple of days.'
Djorkaeff rejected Bolton's offer of a new 12-month contract and since then has been keeping in shape back in France. The former World Cup winner said: 'I am naturally fit and I have been training hard in the south of France to keep fit.
'I have instructed Willie McKay to find me a club in England because I feel I have two good years left in me. I am missing playing in the Premier League and I feel I have a lot to offer to a club in England.'
Moyes is keen to strengthen his squad following the sale of Wayne Rooney, but has to look to free agents with the transfer window closed until January 1.
Carlos Queiroz claims that Rooney's arrival at Old Trafford puts Manchester United on a par with Real Madrid. Queiroz rejoined United this summer as Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant after being fired as head coach of the Spanish side and he believes there is now nothing between the two sides.
'We are very excited by his signing because we now have four world class strikers,' he said. 'With Rooney, [Ruud] van Nistelrooy, [Louis] Saha and [Alan] Smith we have no reason to envy Real.'
