UNISYS

The global information technology services firm has named David Fu  as its new vice-president and general manager of Greater China business

He replaces John Wen, who retired after  21 years  at Unisys.

Based in Hong Kong, Mr Fu will be responsible for building the company's IT services business for the transportation, financial services and government sectors in the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He will report to Andrew Barkla, Unisys vice-president and general manager, Asia-Pacific.

Mr Fu joins Unisys from Equant Network Services,  where  he was vice-president of marketing and sales and Hong Kong general manager for two years.

INTEL

The semiconductor giant has selected former Samsung Electronics global marketing chief and executive vice-president Eric Kim  as its new vice-president and director of sales and marketing group.

Mr Kim will join Intel   on November 15. Pending approval by Intel's board of directors, he will be elected to a corporate vice-president position.

He will be responsible for marketing operations worldwide, including global branding, advertising, co-operative marketing and market research and internet and channel marketing programs.

During his recent tenure at Samsung, Mr Kim helped the  company attain the status of the world's fastest-growing brand.

MCAFEE

The computer security firm announced the retirement of Stephen Richards,  its chief operating officer and chief financial officer, effective December 31.

Mr Richards joined McAfee as chief financial officer in April 2001 and was named chief operating officer in November 2001. He  served as a member of the company's core management team. He came to McAfee from E*Trade, where he was  chief financial officer. He currently serves on the board of directors of Tradestation Group and the Pacific Exchange.

EMC

The data storage systems company has appointed IBM Fellow Jeffrey Nick as senior vice-president and chief technology officer.

Mr Nick will play a major role in executing EMC's technology strategy and in boosting the company's information lifecycle management capabilities, related platforms, software and services. He and his team will also evaluate  information management trends and set technical direction for the company's merger and acquisition activities. Mr Nick reports directly to Howard Elias,  EMC executive vice-president for corporate marketing and technology.

As an IBM Fellow, Mr Nick held the highest technical honour that IBM bestows on its IT innovators. He left IBM in June after 24 years of service.

NCR

Industry veteran Pete Bocian  has been promoted by automated teller machine supplier NCR to senior vice-president and chief financial officer.

He served most recently as vice-president of finance and interim chief financial officer. He reports to NCR president and chief executive Mark Hurd.

Prior to his new appointment, Mr Bocian served as chief financial officer of NCR's Retail and Financial Group.

RED HAT

The world's premier supplier of open-source and Linux software has appointed Charles Peters Jnr  as executive vice-president and chief financial officer.

Mr Peters, a certified public accountant, brings more than 30 years of financial industry experience, including 20 years in publicly traded companies. His responsibilities include accounting, finance, treasury, tax, credit and investor relations. He most recently   served as chief financial officer at multinational firm Burlington Industries.
