Question of the week: Which political leader do you admire most?
Joyce Wu, 17
Former chief secretary Anson Chan. She was the first Chinese and the first woman to be the chief secretary of Hong Kong. She was instrumental in ensuring a stable and effective civil service in Hong Kong.
Furthermore, I love her pleasant smile, which gives me a sense of her kindness and I am deeply impressed by her advice to students: 'It's extremely important to know your own goals and to stick to those goals.'
Aaron Lai, 14
The political leader I admire the most is Franklin D. Roosevelt. The man who proclaimed 'the only thing we have to fear is fear itself' tackled mammoth problems during his four terms, such as nationwide bank closures and 13 million unemployed citizens, with sweeping reforms that brought Americans jobs and social security. Before long he displayed his true colours by decisively steering the nation through the second world war. Despite passing away in 1945, his achievements and fearless vision towards the future live on today.
