The city's first police service centre was opened yesterday in Central, offering not just crime reporting services but also information for tourists lost in the city.

The ground-floor centre at 149 Queen's Road, Central, will be staffed by up to three officers around the clock.

It will share crime-reporting duties with the century-old Central police station at Hollywood Road, which will be relocated to Arsenal Street in Wan Chai later this month.

As well as its primary crime reporting function, the centre will also provide advice, maps and pamphlets to tourists. It will also provide the assistance of officers who can speak English and Putonghua.
