CitySeen caught up with Hollywood actress Vivien Wu Jun-mei (The Pillow Book, The Joy Luck Club) who is in Hong Kong as the spokeswoman for Dior Fine Jewellery.

Wu, who left China in her teenage years to pursue an American education, tells CitySeen how hard it is to make it big anywhere in the world: 'Yes, it's hard for an Asian face to make a mark in Hollywood, but then again, I would be facing the same challenges if I started my acting career in Hong Kong or in China. I think an Asian face in the Asian market is just as difficult.'

Wu has just finished a Canadian art house film called Eve and the Firehorse, directed by Julia Kwan. 'I am very proud to tell the Hong Kong audience that I learned Cantonese for this role,' she says with a laugh.

As for her personal life, Wu is married to an Austrian director and doesn't have any children yet since her three dogs already keep her very busy.

When CitySeen asked if she had any gossip to share, the Shanghai native said: 'I don't have any now, but if you want gossip, you really should go to Shanghai. All the women do there is sit around Starbucks or the spa, talk about their jewellery and gossip.'
