Two mainlanders were jailed for six months yesterday after admitting to stealing at the Jewellery and Watch Fair at the weekend. Teacher Zhou Lixin, 36, was arrested at the Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday on suspicion of stealing 20 magnetic clasps valued at $240. Liu Bihua, 35, pleaded guilty in Eastern Court to two charges of theft for stealing six diamonds worth US$336 in total, as well as two pearls, an earring and one pendant. Sentencing them, Principal Magistrate Ian Candy said it was clear both mainlanders had come to Hong Kong to steal. He said their actions had damaged the fair's reputation.
