ROYAL RIDDLE

Choreographer Natalie Weir and designer Bill Haycock will present a ballet version of  Puccini's operatic masterpiece  Turandot. The production, presented by Hong Kong Ballet, will be staged on Friday at 8pm and on Saturday at 3pm and 8pm at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts' Lyric Theatre.

The story is about  Chinese Princess Turandot, who fears love. Any suitor seeking to marry the princess must answer three riddles.  If he fails, he will die. But she is transformed by  Calaf, who correctly answers the riddles and kisses her.

Tickets cost $100 to $650 for adults, and $50 to $325 for students. Bookings from HK Ticketing on 31 288 288.

JAZZ CONCERT

Famous jazz pianist Herbie Hancock will team up with saxophonist Wayne Shorter, bassist Dave Holland and drummer Brian Blade at the Jazz Up Concert today at 8pm at Hong Kong Cultural Centre's Concert Hall.

The 90-minute show  brings together  the world's most acclaimed jazz players who have collectively won more than 20 Grammy awards.

Tickets at $400, $300, $220 and $150, with half-price concessions for students, are available from Urbtix on 2734 9009.
