The fate of the 723-room Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui will become clear in about five months, when the owner makes a final verdict on its proposal to turn the four-star hotel into a retail complex. Cheong Kheng Lim, deputy chairman of Associated International Hotels - the owner of the Hyatt Regency - said a retail development would provide higher returns than a hotel investment. Director Charles Sin Cho-chiu said a final decision would be made by the Lunar New Year. In July, Associated International proposed turning the Nathan Road hotel into a retail complex.
