The wedge heel is back this season, clomping down runways at Louis Vuitton and most major shows. The chunky heel's heyday was in the 1970s, when glam-rock's favourite shoe designer was the king of the wedges, Terry de Havilland. 'Heels push the hips forward and make you wiggle,' says the 65-year-old designer, who has a new collection out this year ( www.terrydehavilland.com ). 'That's why I've always designed them.' For a contemporary take on the wedge heel, try Hogan's suede boots. Available as a high boot (far left; $4,700) in turquoise, camel, black and prune, or as an ankle boot (left; $3,500) in green, black, purple or red, the boots are funky and feminine, and look fresh when paired with lightweight layers. You can find them at Hogan, Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 0181.
