Full moon to mark holiday for 40th time in 100 years
Lovers, families and others who step out for their traditional look at the moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival tonight will have one of their best views ever.
The sky will be clear, with a dry continental airstream bringing fine weather to southern China.
The moon will be at its fullest at 9.09pm - only the 40th time in 100 years that it has reached this state on the night of the festival.
There will also be plenty of time for watching, with the moon emerging at 6.14pm, reaching its mid-point at 12.23am tomorrow and fading at 6.38am.
Tomorrow night it will start at 6.48pm, reach its mid-point at 1.08am and last until 7.34am on Thursday.
For the best views, the Observatory has advised the public to head to an open space and face south.
