La Cite Greenville has a grand name that is no exaggeration: it really is like a city surrounded by green

Sitting at the centre of the Agile Holdings' property empire in Zhongshan, La Cite Greenville is more than your standard mainland housing development. With row upon row of neatly placed houses, low-rises and apartments, it looks like a suburb in middle America.

It helps that the estate, which has more than 2,000 homes, is next door to one of Asia s most beautiful golf courses, the 36-hole Agile Golf Club. But it also has the distinct advantage of its location in one of the greenest parts of the province, the hometown of Sun Yat-sen.

It is also well designed, which is quickly evident driving down one of its avenues. There is none of the tackiness or garish designs often associated with such large housing complexes.

Hong Kong buyers have not been slow to take notice of the development's attractions, which include a big difference in price between here and the eastern side of the delta. Nor have overseas investors. Jackson Luo Bingjie, the project's senior sales manager, says 40 per cent of the latest batch of 200 apartments released in August have been snapped up by buyers from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Australia.

'Many fall in love instantly with the magnificent view our luxury apartments capture of the golf club next door,' he says. 'Our selling prices are reasonable, and we see room for further increases.'

The development's latest batch of apartments, called Tower 18, are comfortably furnished and measure from 102 sq m to 215 sq m, with two to five bedrooms. Prices range from 400,000 yuan to 1.2 million yuan.
