If the Choo fits
'Jimmy girls' in Hong Kong, brace yourselves. Jimmy Choo will open its boutique, at the Landmark, next month. The shoe designer's creations are favoured by elegant women the world over for their style and comfort. A selection is available at Lane Crawford and on pedder, but the new store will carry a wider range. Why the Landmark? 'It's one of the most luxurious shopping locations in Asia,' says president Tamara Yeardye Mellon. The 40s-inspired, boudoir-style store will open on October 4, with bags and shoes ranging from $3,800 to $13,000. Jimmy Choo, Shop 213, the Landmark, Central. Inquiries: 2525 6068
On the side
Esprit will launch what it calls Asia's first vertical catwalk in coming weeks, in Taipei, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. The performances, by nine model-acrobats, combine mountain climbing techniques with dance and so-called rapid descent movements. They will showcase the autumn-winter Esprit Sports collection. The Hong Kong show will be held on the facade of the Miramar Shopping Centre in Kowloon on October 4. Esprit's vertical catwalk performances have become a hallmark of its flagship store openings. Miramar Shopping Centre, 132 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.
Knight to remember
British designer Sir Paul Smith will open a store in the Landmark early next month. Smith is said to have been involved in designing the 1,800sqft wood-panelled boutique. The store will be filled with old portraits, paintings and memorabilia, giving it a classic Paul Smith touch. The boutique will sell men and women's clothing, plus accessories, fragrances and shoes.
