Taste of pleasure

With its multicultural background, Singapore has become a delicious melting pot of cuisines from around the world. Whether you fancy Thai, Chinese or Indian food, this is the place to indulge.

Singaporeans are spoiled for choice, but can prove to be fickle. Trendy restaurants can come and go within a year or two.

But if you ever want to impress your mother-in-law, your business partner or an overseas friend, the hot favourite in town at the moment is My Humble House.

Despite its name, the restaurant is not humble when it comes to the bill, and it certainly does not have the best Chinese food in town, according to Chinese food purists.

But it does know how to wow its patrons, and the experience is one they will remember long after they have gone.

The decor is original enough, with a few unique chairs and tables that make you constantly want to request different seating. If you are lucky enough to have a table by the window, you will get a great view of the bay with the Merlion statue and Fullerton hotel.

But what really surprises and impresses diners is the unique food presentation: dim sum is served on dry ice, which engulfs guests in billowing steam for a few minutes; soup comes in a bowl decorated with flaming stones.
