Updated at 6.04pm: A Hong Kong furniture store - which sells bedding and mattresses - allegedly sold some customers beds with fake mattresses, a newspaper claimed on Friday.
The Apple Daily reported that the mattresses were filled with mouldy hay, shredded fabric and nylon cement bags.
Customs officers have received a report from bedding company, Simmons Bedding & Furniture (HK), that the bedding chain, Better House Furniture, was selling a fake version of Simmons' 'Beautyrest' mattress, the Apple Daily reported.
Officers raided five chain retail outlets in Tin Shui Wai, Sha Tin and Ho Man Tin and a warehouse in Yuen Long on Wednesday. They also seized 41 suspected counterfeit mattresses, worth about $28,560, a customs spokesman said on Friday.
The officers seized five mattresses at the five retail outlets; and 36 mattresses in a warehouse in Yuen Long.
