A man wanted in connection with the killing of a South Korean secretary four years ago was arrested when he returned to Hong Kong, police said yesterday.
The suspect, 35, was intercepted by Immigration officers at the Lowu checkpoint when he arrived from Shenzhen at 1pm on Thursday.
He was then handed to detectives from Hong Kong Island regional crime unit for further investigation. He was charged last night and remained in police custody.
The man quit as a security guard with the management office at Kornhill several months before the Korean woman, Erika Moon, 30, was killed on October 19, 2000, according to a police source.
She was found with multiple stab wounds outside her flat in Block Q in Kornhill, Quarry Bay, and died later in hospital.
'We believe that the victim was killed in a botched robbery. Investigations revealed that the victim was stabbed during a struggle with the failed robber inside her unit and the scuffle spilled outside the unit,' the source said.
