Cheap shirts are easy to find in Hong Kong, but getting a good-quality business shirt custom-made at a reasonable price requires research. Or so you might think. At Jantzen Tailor in Central you pay only $280 for a shirt made to measure by a professional tailor.

The friendly owners, David Wong and Ricky Ho, opened the shop about 20 years ago. Although they specialise in men's shirts, they also make clothes for women. There are a range of fabrics to choose from, including Italian cotton, linen and silk in myriad designs, plus numerous options for collars, cuffs and buttons.

There are two ways to place an order with Jantzen. You can either go to the shop for measuring, then choose the style and fabric; your shirt will be ready for pick-up two days later. Alternatively, you can order online (www.jantzentailor.com) and have the garment delivered to your door. You don't have to be an expert because the website has detailed instructions on how to take your own measurements. Jantzen also takes overseas orders and promises shipment within two weeks.

Jantzen Tailor is at shop 256, 2/F, World Wide House, 19 Des Voeux Road, Central, tel: 2537 8119 or 2570 5901. Open Monday to Saturday from 11am to 8pm; Sunday and public holidays from noon

to 5pm.
