Killer debut from Vegas foursome
This year brought with it a number of good new bands. Earlier we had stylish retro quartet Franz Ferdinand. Now, from across the Atlantic, comes Las Vegas foursome The Killers.
The four youngsters - Brandon Flowers (vocals and synthesiser), Dave Keuning (guitar), Mark Stoermer (bass) and Ronnie Vannucci (drums) - have put out a stack of catchy tunes featured on their debut Hot Fuss.
Their sound contains traces of rock 'n roll from the 80s, and the boys succeed in turning their roots into something fashionable.
The Killers have already won fame with their brilliant first single Somebody Told Me. Hailed as one of the year's best singles, it has a great rhythm and melody.
Of course, Hot Fuss contains more than just Somebody Told Me. Opening track Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine kicks off with Vannucci's fierce drums and ear-catching guitars from Keuning. Mr Brightside, a fast-paced melodic track, is just as good as Somebody Told Me. Don't wait any more. Buy it!
