Disagreement over how to tap North American market leads to bust-up
Computer monitor maker Proview International Holdings and United States-based Motorola have broken their digital television production and sales partnership after a disagreement over how to tap the market.
The bust-up stemmed from the slower than expected digitalisation of the television markets, Proview said.
'Digital television markets are still very small and immature because many television broadcasters have not yet shifted to a digital system,' it said.
As part of the partnership deal that was reached in October last year, Proview won the licence to produce and sell liquid-crystal display (LCD) and cathode ray tube monitors as well as LCD and plasma television sets under the Motorola brand in the mainland and overseas markets.
Proview said the firm and Motorola had decided to end the alliance 'because of differences in opinion over product marketing strategy for the North American market'.
