Paul Mak Sik-pong has begun studying for a master's degree, at the age of 75. His next ambition is to attend Oxford University or Peking University.
'You never know what will happen next in life,' said Mr Mak, the oldest student recorded in Baptist University's books. 'The best you can do is keep improving and equipping yourself so that you don't miss the chance when it [comes to you]. Who knows, I may become the next chief executive of Hong Kong.'
He is believed to be the oldest postgraduate student in Hong's Kong history.
A retired supervisor of a shipping company, Mr Mak had previously spent 10 years earning a degree in language and translation at the University of Hong Kong's School of Professional and Continuing Education.
Now he is studying part-time three nights a week for a master's in contemporary Chinese studies.
Mr Mak said it was important for Chinese people to understand the cultures, politics and economic development of China. 'We will be faceless in the international arcade if we don't understand our own country,' he said.
