WWF hunts fund-raising manager
A golden opportunity to play a key role in educating the population of Hong Kong about the environment and biological diversity has cropped up for aggressive individuals with great business sense.
A global non-government organisation (NGO) with a presence in more than 90 countries that focuses on conservation and education is seeking to recruit a replacement fund-raising manager - development.
One of the world's largest independent conservation NGOs, WWF Hong Kong has four offices locally.
As a member of the marketing and fund-raising department, the candidate would be 'responsible for corporate fund-raising in projects, sponsorship and support for events' and would need to 'secure programme sponsorship to meet fund-raising goals and [support] new fund-raising initiatives', director of marketing and fund-raising Cindy Chang said.
Essentially, the candidate would work on conservation, public awareness and education. 'These are strong tools for us to achieve our conservation goals,' Ms Chang said.
With this in mind, the ideal candidate should be independent and mature, and offer plenty of initiative, but also offer strong business acumen.
As this NGO's work is unique, the new recruit must understand its mission, vision and work. 'This is already quite a handful. The language our colleagues use is highly scientific and technical. [You need to] translate it into language that our donors and supporters can understand.
