Down to earth

Two years ago, Brie Sievert and husband Cory started Asian Earth because they loved gardening but found it difficult to find quality materials. Then, Brie says, 'a year ago we were frustrated with the pot selection in Hong Kong and started importing our own containers from Indonesia and Vietnam'. These days the company, based on south Lantau Island, sells not only plants and pots (concrete, glazed and terracotta, from $30 to $850) but also beautiful garden accessories such as lanterns, bas-relief sculptures and Balinese hand-carved stone statues (pictured; $1,300). They also do landscape gardening and recently began offering maintenance services for those too busy or lacking the know-how to care for their green patches. For more information, visit www.asianearth.com or call 2980 4785. Asian Earth will also have a stall at the Discovery Bay Autumn Festival on October 23. The event, to be held from 9am to 5pm in the space opposite Wing On, upstairs from the Plaza, will feature 15 home businesses selling everything from children's clothes to handcrafted silverware and household decorations.
