A SENIOR health inspector and two hawkers are being sued for damages in the case of a four-year-old boy who was scalded with boiling water during a hawker raid. In a writ filed in the Supreme Court, Pun Kam-fung's father, Pun Sai-hoo, has named as defendants the Regional Council, senior health inspector Tong Yu-sang and hawkers Ko Kuen and Lee Hin-yin. The writ alleged that at about 8.15 am on May 7 last year, while Kam-fung was walking along the pavement in Tai Wo Hau, Tsuen Wan, the defendants negligently handled and manoeuvred a hand-cart. It stated that the cart overturned, spilling boiling water and injuring Kam-fung. The victim had to undergo treatment to his right buttock and ankles and skin-graft surgery. It is claimed that Tong caused and/or permitted the hand-cart to overturn by pushing and pulling it.
