Stellar start to couples' romantic tour of HK

Sixty-two couples from Zhejiang province began a romantic tour to Hong Kong yesterday by attending a mass wedding ceremony at the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Wearing traditional red jackets, the couples from Hangzhou, most of them newlyweds, kissed against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour. The ceremony was jointly organised by the Hangzhou Youth Federation and the Hong Kong Tourism Board.

Each couple paid about 6,000 yuan for the five-day trip. They will enjoy a dinner cruise tonight.

They were awarded certificates of attendance by Canto-pop singer Karen Mok Man-wai.

Zhao Jian, 24 , said it was the first trip to Hong Kong for him and his bride, Wang Yingjie.

'Hong Kong is a romantic city,' he said.
