Printer up-ended

DESKTOP space is precious and, despite ingenious ideas, there never seems to be enough.

To reclaim space, personal computer-makers came up with the ''tower'' configuration; a pretentious name for standing the computer on its side.

The smaller footprint releases valuable desk space.

Now, Panasonic has dome the same for printers, which are notorious for hogging desk space.

Panasonic said its SideWriter had the smallest footprint of any laser-quality printer.

It uses less desk space than a sheet of paper and can print four pages a minute.
