2 hurt as truck tips over and hits bus near tunnel

Two people were injured yesterday when a truck overturned and skidded into a bus at the entrance to the Cross-Harbour Tunnel.

The accident occurred in front of the tollbooths on the Hunghom side of the tunnel.

Police said the driver of the truck lost control in lane two of Hong Chong Road and overturned, skidding into a bus in lane four.

A police spokeswoman said two passengers in the truck were injured and taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

A 22-year-old man injured his left hand and was under observation last night.

The other passenger was discharged after treatment to his foot.

The police said no passengers on the bus were hurt.

Traffic through the Cross Harbour tunnel was affected for about half an hour and returned to normal about 2pm.
