Keeping it real
Paul Yau, principal, The Hong Kong Chinese Christian Churches Union Logos Academy
DESPITE HAVING invested extensively in information technology for its teachers and students, Logos Academy does not have any computer classes because Mr Yau believes the campus is a place for students to interact face to face rather than being in their own world in front of a computer.
'If students just sit in front of a computer at school and then spend most of their time at home sending messages to their classmates, isn't that ridiculous?' he asks.
'The computer is not a difficult thing to learn. Students can learn at home. As long as the school provides them with the digital equipment they need, it is enough.'
Mr Yau says parents should spend their money on upgrading their computers or buying new software rather than on computer classes.
'The whole family can learn new software together. Computers can be a good interface to bring family members together.'
