The parental instinct is to nurture. We sign up our children in as many 'enrichment' classes as possible to equip them for the rest of their lives. We splash out on toys in the belief these will help develop their mental capacity. We read them books to fuel their intellectual interest. We queue up to enrol them in the best schools in town in the hope these will give them a head start. At the same time, we seek out nutritious foods and despair if our children eat junk. As we lavishly spend on the next generation, how should we at the same time teach them money sense?
Every parent can write a book on the wisdom, hardship and joy of bringing up children.
We share this edition of Childcare with you in the hope that knowing you are not alone in facing these parental issues will make you smile and the opportunity to compare notes will make you glad.
As Halloween is near, we have also put together a spread of costume possibilities for the young ones, plus stylish outfits to attend those impending Christmas parties. Our travel section looks at some family-friendly holiday options plus pampering for expecting mums in Hong Kong day spas. Now that's something non-parents don't have the exclusive privilege to enjoy!
