Changsha bus blast injures 40

More than 40 passengers were injured in an explosion aboard a public bus in Hunan's capital city of Changsha yesterday.

Of those injured, seven were listed in a serious condition, Xinhua reported.

It was the second such incident in the city in less than two months.

The blast occurred at about 1pm when the bus was on the intersection of Shaoshan and Juyuan roads, in the heart of city.

A spokeswoman for the Changsha Public Security Bureau said the cause of the explosion was being investigated and a result was expected today.

A message posted on a mainland website by an alleged witness said many of the bus passengers were middle-school students.
