A new meaning to pigging out

Many who have seen the latest marketing campaign for Spaghetti House have by now made up their mind about it.

The advert, which depicts a piglet of Babe-like cuteness having cheese sauce poured over its little head, has caused a stir among the public.

The piglet looks longingly into the camera as if contemplating why he was plucked from his mother's side and plonked in front of a camera to have a glutinous yellow substance congeal on his ears.

Everyone knows many pigs meet their fate in abattoirs but is it fair to flaunt such a fact (with a baby pig as the star attraction) on billboards?

The ad has even united meat eaters and vegetarians who agree it is distasteful.

Other people who have seen the ad may have raced to their nearest spaghetti restaurant.

But if this form of advertising becomes acceptable then it may not be the last time we are informed of where our favourite food comes from.
