The Shining by Stephen King, followed by Sleepy Hollow. The latter is outstanding due to its well-written storyline and mysterious atmosphere. It also features one of Johnny Depp's greatest performances. Director Tim Burton captures the mood and era skilfully by using spooky music and gorgeous costumes. The ending is unpredictable and surprising. Watch out!

My favourite horror movie is Scream because it's scary and very unpredictable. The murderer wears a simple Halloween mask. But I am now stricken by fear whenever I see that mask. When the killer said: 'Don't answer the phone. Don't open the door. Don't try to escape', it made my hair stand on end. The scene where Drew Barrymore makes popcorn was particularly suspenseful. But I won't spoil it for you guys.

Ghost Ship. It grabs your attention right from the start with passengers aboard a ship being sliced in two with a rope yet still able to move after that! The victims die one by one, but the plot takes an unexpected twist. I also love the special effects. The ending is fantastic because it makes you think the horror is all over when it's not. Definitely the best horror film I've seen.
