I get confused about when to use 'some' and 'any'. Can you sort this out?

'Some' and 'any' are important little words that are used all the time in English.

At times, they do seem to mean the same thing, but if you follow these four basic rules, you won't get them mixed up.

1. SOME is a number or amount of something. It is used instead of an exact number or amount and in positive statements.

I have SOME DVDs at home. (You don't know the exact number.)

She has SOME money in the bank. (You are not exactly sure how much.)

2. We use SOME if we are offering things to someone else or when we are asking if we can have something.
