Director Jingle Ma Cho-sing (right) would be 'heartbroken' if actress Cherrie Ying Choi-yee (left) was dabbling with drugs, he said yesterday in the wake of headlines about her arrest early on Saturday morning. Ying was arrested at a police roadblock in Kowloon Tong for possessing drugs. She was apparently on her way home with friends, including the 23-year-old son of showbiz tycoon Peter Lam Kin-ngok, Lam Hau-yin, after a late night out. Ma, who is in Seoul shooting for Seoul Raiders, said: 'It's very scary to hear more and more reports about young actors dabbling in drugs. So many youths idolise them so you have to wonder what kind of an effect this will have on them ... If they want others to love them, they first have to love themselves.' Ma directed Ying in Why Me, Sweetie? (2003) and remembers her as an 'obedient and keen learner'. Seoul Raiders, the sequel to Ma's 2000 film Tokyo Raiders, sees Tony Leung Chiu-wai reprise his role as a special agent. The film also stars siren Shu Qi and singer Richie Jen, and is scheduled for release for the Lunar New Year.
