Tomorrow is the first day of Diwali - the Hindu festival of lights marking Indian New Year - an event that the local Indian community has been anticipating for weeks. Over the past few nights, there have been grand balls, parties and a mad frenzy to buy gold for good luck. Though in India, Singapore and Malaysia Diwali is a national holiday, most of the local Indian community will initially mark the occasion by saying prayers at home or at the office, followed by visits to friends and family. Traditional gifts such as cookies or chocolates have been upgraded to fine wines and designer candies. CitySeen would like to wish the local Indian community a very happy and prosperous New Year.
